Muli,

How are you? Well the reason I am writing is to let you know one of my friends Marie is looking for a diamond. I told her you had a good reputation in taking care of us over here to give her some more options while shopping. I have cc’d her on this e-mail so she can write you and let you know what she is looking for.

Thank you

Jamie

Mr. Grober,

My name is Deric Parsoneault and I am currently serving in the United States Navy with my good Friend Ben Feldman.  I am looking to be getting engaged soon and I was asking him about rings and diamonds and he highly recommended you sir!  He said that you can get good diamonds without ripping someone off( a quality not well known in the U.S.).  I am a little bit more financially restrained than Ben is though but I still decided to give it a shot through you.  I know a rough idea what i am looking for but I am always willing to accept the advice of an expert.  Thank you very much sir for your time.

Shalom(I hoped i spelled that right),

Muli:

Thank you for your 4th of July holiday greeting. As always I hope that you are doing well. For myself and my family we are well.

In part I'm writing because your timing is near perfect for my eldest son, Karl (copied here). Karl has just completed his first year of Medical School (courtesy of the Navy), and is currently attending the Navy's Officer Development School in Newport, Rhode Island as an Ensign.

Karl is engagement ring shopping. In fact he indicated he was just in the Navy Exchange looking at diamond rings at the jewlery counter. It was at this point I suggested that he should contact you to see if you might be able to work with him and perhaps make him an offer like the one you made me when I bought that beautiful heart shaped Ceylon saphire and diamond pendant necklace for my wife Libby. (She wears it often.)

I'll leave any further communications up to you two. Take care, and thanks for your continuing friendship.

Your friend,

Rick Hillenbrand

Hey Buddy!!!!!!!  Happy 4th of July to you too...  I was in Iraq for a little white but I hurt my knee so I had to go to the hospital back here in Kuwait and I was there for 3 weeks recovering.  I am all better now and am back to flying medevac missions.  So as you know I was supposed to get married April 30th 2010 but I just got my orders for my next tour of duty and I will be moving to Naples, Italy in February for 3 years!!!  So, needless to say we had to bump the wedding up to January 22.  Tricia loves her diamond so much and every time I think about it I think about you....  Talk to you later my man!

Master Chief,

I was your Combat Systems PE until I turned over to Tim Graham recently.

LT Wade knows me.

I can totally vouch for Muli.  I have known Muli since 1989 and have done business with him since then.  I count him not only as a great jeweler but a great friend.

As for the loose diamonds shipmates have already purchased…yes Muli can assist with designing and mounting them.  Muli is great with working with the customers via email.  He prefers to offer quality at a very reasonable price.  For shipmates that have no clue what to look for when it comes to diamonds or any gem stones (yes he can get those too), Muli will spend the time to teach them.

If you would please pass his information to the Officers as well.  Tell The CO I said hello.  I was his CSPE when he was CO of the MAHAN.

Thank you so much for working with Les to make me my ring.  It is the ring that I have always dreamed of and to get it from the man that I love with all of my heart makes it that much more special. It is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen... I have showed it off to all of my friends. It really meant a lot to me that you worked with Les to get me the ring that I have always wanted....  I am truly blessed to have a husband that is willing to work that hard to get me what I want and he is truly blessed to be able to find a friend like you to create it for him. Thank you so much for making it for me.  I love my ring!!!!

Muli,

We got the certificate the other day.

Our insurance company requires an appraisal for the whole ring.  So we went to the only reputable guy in town.

His appraisal of the ring was almost exact except for the color of the stone.  I told him it was an F and he said NO it’s a G and that is all he would put on the appraisal.  Of course he also told me the blue stones were Tanzanite, until he looked closer and changed his mind.  I don’t think he understood they were Ceylon’s…then it dawned on him what I was saying.

The ring appraised for well over what we paid and if something were to happen….we would just come back to you for a replacement anyway…so I am not worried about G or F.

I can tell you that Meredith Loves to show off her ring.  I have had several guys tell me NOT to show their wives the ring….which made Meredith just run right over to show them.

The STOUT now knows how to contact you.  Just sent them the information.  I am sure you will get some email and a few visitors.

I want you to know that both Meredith and I are VERY Happy with all the pieces you have made….please don’t take anything I say in emails trying to explain how these numbnuts around here do business as anyway against the way you have taken care of both of us.  I sing your praises to anyone that I know is headed over to your direction…and anyone that even remotely asks about diamonds or Jewelry.  Here is the bottom line on Meredith’s Ring.  We paid you $4580.00 and the ring appraised for $8,500 and that is when the appraiser said it was a G vice and F.  The appraisers heregenerally are on contract to provide a service to the customers.  My goal is to always get the highest appraisal so (god forbid) just in case something happens we are covered and when I have to replace the stone…I can get something better for her….which in this case will be VERY HARD TO DO.

How can you get something better than perfection?

The other appraisers I have seen here tend to appraise at a lower level and then suggest upgrades at the store they are in.  Trade in your rings or stones to get a better stone type of bait and switch.  I even had one friend that gave his great grandmothers 1 carat diamond to the store, based on the appraisers input to get recut because it was dirty, scratched and could not be polished.  So he paid the store over $1,000 to recut his great grandmothers stone smaller so it would look nice for his fiancé.  I think they took the old stone and replaced it with a new stone of smaller size.  I use that gemology lesson on diamonds you gave me so long ago as a way to teach others how to tell when they are being ripped off.  Then tell them to go to you for a better price. Now I can point them to Tim Schorr to back up what I have been telling them.

My buddies on the STOUT are telling everyone about you…or so they say.  I will make sure they know to drop you a note so you can find them the stones in the price range they want.  I know of at least two that are very interested.

I can only express my feelings about my ring by telling you how it represents all that is good about my fiancé. He is generous to a fault and is always trying to find ways to make me happy. I have never been treated with such kindness and consideration nor have I ever had anyone make this kind of investment to demonstrate how much he cares for me. Your efforts to send this beautiful symbol of love to us makes it even more special....  We are all showing off our hardware!

I hope that someday we have an opportunity to meet.

I am enclosing a picture of the style of diamond cross that I would like in yellow 18ct gold. I purchased from you an eternity ring almost ten years ago and then lost the website link, so have been looking for you for ages. I then came across the certification card for my eternity ring that you made for me and thankfully found your details!

Thanks

Hello and good day to you, my name is Scott and I’m a co-worker of M. W. from the Nassau.  I was talking with him one night about maybe trying to find a diamond when we went to Haifa.  Of course he just jumped at the opportunity and began to tell me what a nice person and good friend he had there, and that you might be able to help me find a stone.....

Hey, IT2 Baker its AZ2 Stifflemire that worked at the WING with ya.  I hear you all might be pulling into Israel and wanted to pass along some information.  I received this information from back at homeguard from one of our chiefs.

Hey, one more thing.  If you do know people that are looking to buy diamonds tell them they should email him prior to pulling in so he can get the best diamond from the Israel Diamond Exchange.
I emailed him days prior and when I went and saw him I looked through a lot diamonds that were absolutely beautiful.
Anyhoo, have a great time there and take the trip to Jerusalem.  It was awesome...
Anyhoo, if anybody on your ship is looking to buy diamonds while there in Israel I totally recommend them seeing the gentlemen listed below:

I personally met him and he is a great guy that only sells to US and Israeli forces besides his regular cliental of diamond stores throughout Israel.  Have them go to his website listed above and check it out.  I personally am buying a 1.07 ct. diamond, color E, and clarity of SI2-1.  He also has precious stones; emeralds, rubies ect.  I have ccd him on this email so you can pass this along to all your shipmates.

Muli,

Its great to hear from you.

....if the CMC wants to contact me as a reference, I would be happy to email him or her back giving you my highest recommendation.  It is important for the CMCs to know that you will not see Sailors (or anyone for that matter) that arrives by taxi.  Many do not know how the taxi drivers and gides try and often are successful at getting a cut for bringing customers.  Because of this, and your military discount I found your prices to be a great deal lower than any diamond dealers.  To me, those guys (the big diamond stores) were almost like rip off artist.

Some of the Sailors may find it a little strange to hear you work out your office, but they will not be disappointed. I was impressed with the way you taught us about the stones and allowed us to pick out the diamonds characteristics before we looked at the documented information on the envelops.  After an hour or so, my Chiefs and I were able to look at a stone and with our bare eye, come pretty close on things like the size, color and clarity.  Every diamond I bought from you (3 there, plus the one I ordered here while in the states) all appraised at almost double what I paid for them.  Of course the Christmas Tree diamond is the most unique.  Many have asked my wife wear she got it.

I first heard about you from the 6th Fleet Chaplin while I was serving as the CMC aboard The Sullivans (DDG 68) back in 2000.

Anyway, I hope these emails get you in touch with the CMCs.  These guys look out for their Sailors.  And having been the CMC of two ships (USS THE SULLIVANS and USS GETTYSBURG), I know how important it is for them to get the best deal in town and keep their Sailors from getting ripped off.

Muli, great to hear back from you.  I've attached a picture, but I'm afraid my old friend it was many years ago when we last spoke.  I think my first visit there was in 1988 or so, when I was on the USS Theodore Roosevelt.  I came back in 1991 after the Persian Gulf War, then again in 1993 while on the USS Puget Sound during our 3 week visit to Haifa.  I think I made one more trip back, around 1997 when back on the USS Theodore Roosevelt.  I retired from the US Navy in 1998.  Over the years, I visited you with many of my friends - Kevin Gxxxxx, TJ Wxxxx, Troy Hxxxx, Matt Sxxxxx, David Sxxxxx and quite a few whose names escape me after so many years.  I used to truly enjoy bringing new people up to see you - they were always amazed at what a wonderful time they had visiting with you, learning all there was to know about diamonds, and your hospitality.  Visits to Mama's was one of my truly enjoyable memories from my Navy days.

I don't know anyone on the Kearsarge, but I'll send off an e-mail to their senior enlisted to tell them all about you and make sure they get the word out.  Too many times the Navy ships get bombarded with flyers from the tourist traps and true friends of our Navy get overlooked.

If I remember your teachings, I can get away with some color with a yellow setting more than with a white setting.  She prefers yellow anyway, so let's go with that.  She truly is a rare woman - size doesn't matter :) and she is truly easy to please....  I'd like to keep the ring less than $1000 or so if at all possible - I'll leave that to you to tell me whether it can be done or not.

Ultimately, for the wedding band she wants a wrap around the solitaire,... size 5.

Let me know where we are here, if my budget is right and what we might be able to do.  I look forward to hearing from you again soon!  And I'll send out that e-mail to the Kearsarge today!
/Barry

Muli, You probably do not remember me, but I bought the 50 pt diamond, F color for $2200. It appraised for $3750.00. That was mounted (simple solitaire mount that cost $75). More important, my wife is very pleased as was I. You said it would probably appraise for between $2800-3100 and ask that I let you know how it shook out. Thanks, look forward to doing business kith you in the future. Ken
Muli-- How are you my friend?! Sorry for being such a bad email connection lately. Things have been pretty hectic around here lately. Megan is now overseas for the next 3 months on the USS Wasp, and work is getting busy for me. I'm in charge of making sure that the squadron passes it's annual evaluation in mid-July, so I've had my hands full. I hear from my friend Chris J. that you are on the job for him, too. That's great. I'm sure he'll be happy with the fruits of your efforts -- God knows I was!! Chris is a great guy, if you hadn't already figured that out. I was more than happy to give him your email when he asked about Megan's ring. Best Wishes, John.

Muli, Sorry it has taken me so long to write. Work has been crazy. I received the stone from Peggy. It is beautiful. Thank you so much for the help that you have offered us. You have made our anniversary special. Thanks. Ruth Anne will not get to see it until Saturday because she is out of town. After that I would like to take it down and get it appraised for insurance purposes. Hope everything is going well for you and you are recovering from your injury. Get back out there on the water it will be good for you. Thanks, David

Muli,

I am back! I am 100% pleased with it and please finish the purchase. I took the diamond and setting to a jeweler in Norfolk for an appraisal and to put the entire ring together. The appraisal is complete. Looks like this diamond is a real gem and he was very impressed with the quality. G, my beautiful girlfriend, will be thrilled when she see's it. Joel.

Muli,

Ruth is home and loves the diamond. Thanks for all of your help. We really appreciated the time you have taken.

Dave

Hey Muli, it’s Ruth . Wow!!!! It is so pretty I am almost afraid to wear it. It is going to make a beautiful ring. Hope your shoulder feels better. I am going to take it to the jewelry store tomorrow to get appraised and see about setting it. We’ll let you know how much they appraise it for. Thanks!!! Ruth.

dear muli,

i received the stone today. i must say, you are a man of his word and one who knows his business. i think the stone is beautiful. i will show it to her tonight. can't wait to see her expression. i will fill you in with the details tomorrow. she absolutely loved the toy. it is being mounted this week. i must say you have served us well, and met and exceeded all expectations. the stone was exactly what you said it to be, and you have made one happy person in this world. tom.

Muli, Bought a diamond from you back in 1991. I was in the U.S. Navy and me and a couple of shipmates came into your shop. Your hospitality and service was excellent and you gave me a great deal on an almost flawless diamond. My wife loves it. Just wanted you to know that our prayers are with you and that we're behind you 110%. PEACE through power and vigilance.

T.J. W. Chesapeake, Virginia

The eagle has landed and it is a beauty. It was delivered Thurs. and I got it from my neighbor last Friday (I was away) I didn't have my lap top over the weekend or I would have told you right away, sorry if you worried, my friend.

I had it appraised this morning at 0800. Everything is fine and right on the money. The size is right, the qualities are right, the cut is right, everything is great. I am relieved. Not that I doubted the process or you, just that I was naturally nervous. I do appreciate the effort you gave and the deal I got on the rock. I'm very happy and the stone is beautiful. As Tom told me, and I will tell anyone else, I got a great deal and I am grateful, buddy.

Now I must get the brilliant rock put in a setting and pop the question. I'll let you know how I make out.

Hope you are well and good and are wind sailing like mad.

Peace, be careful, Bill

Muli,

We got the diamond and it is beautiful! Trish absolutely loves it! Unfortunately, (you are going to kick my butt here) we didn't taken any photos of the occasion. I was hoping to take some shots after we got the stone mounted, but ..... Trish took it to our jeweler to have it mounted and it is going to take two weeks. As I said though, the diamond is very impressive and will look great with Trish's wedding band. I promise to take photos when we get the ring back. Again, you are the man! Thanks!!! The diamond is beautiful. The size compared to my engagement ring is amazing. I can't wait to get it back and on my hand to show off. I asked Mike what do I get for the next one???? He said keep wishing.... Well a girl can dream can't she. Oh well. I just wanted to say thanks for the hard work you did finding this beautiful diamond for me.

Your friends always, Mike and Trish

I'm very excited about the upcoming engagement. I can't wait to be able to tell S. what a pleasure it was working with you getting this thing built.

You have been a terrific businessman, and I will recommend you highly. Oh, good news for you. My roommate from college has been tracking me closely on this deal with you. He's about to be in the same boat I'm in very soon. I think he will probably be asking his girl soon. Thanks again, Muli!

Chris

Sir:

My husband purchased diamonds from you in Haifa many years ago when he was visiting on a US Navy ship. We are interested in purchasing diamonds for a pair of stud earrings. We are looking for approximately 2x .90 to 1. 0 CT (total weight 1.80 to 2.), f-g in color, SI1 clarity, round brilliant stones. Can you help us with this and can you give me an idea of your cost in US Dollar? I hope to hear from you. Sincerely, Joanne B.

Dear Mr. Grober,

My name is Christopher Johnson and I am emailing you to inquire about purchasing a diamond. I am in the U.S. Navy and serve with John R. and Mike S.. You have a very good reputation within this squadron and are very highly recommended. I am looking for a good quality diamond 1 to 1.5 carats in size. It is for an engagement ring and my girlfriend has told me that size matters. What options do I have and what price range am I looking at? Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely, Christopher E. J.

Muli, Just thought I would drop you a line and say thank you for helping Joel. I explained to him that during my deployment in 2000 onboard USS McFaul that I purchased a diamond from you. I was with Scott Kern and a few other friends from McFaul. I purchase a .49 carat diamond. My wife finally got it in a setting with some sapphires that she had purchased. She really loves it. I think for the diamond and stones plus the setting I paid $500 US. I had it appraised at almost $2300 US. WOW!!. Also my brother in law purchased a diamond from you (David M.) he was very pleased with his diamond. Life is good and when people are looking for diamonds I always refer them to you.. Your the greatest

Thank you again. Stacey H.

What's up Muli All is well on this side of the water. The kids are all doing fine. Muli I can't express to you how appreciative I am for the rock. I took it to one of the jewelers and their eyes almost bulged out of there heads. The rock is awesome, by the way the money transfers will be done to the account in the morning by my bank. I took care of everything today. Gotta go for now Muli. How's the shoulder ? Hope it feels better I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless you.

Muli,

Hello! My name is Mai.  I was referred to you by US navy officer B and R D from Virginia.  Rochelle speaks very highly of you and your work.  I have seen her wedding ring set and your work is beautiful!
My boyfriend L ( soon to be fiance) and I are looking for an engagement ring.  We did find a setting that we like, and we decided that a 1.5 carat to 2 carat stone would look best in this setting.  We would like a Round cut as close to "E" color scale as possible. Also we are looking for possible a VVS1/VVS2.

We've been trying to shop around and look at stones and do research online about stones, and these are the specifications that we want, but by all means, we are not experts so if you have any opinions, please let us know.  As far as our budget, we know we have one, but just not sure what it is.  So if you could, send us a few price quotes so we could have a better idea of where we are in our budget. Maybe what we want is too much for our budget!

I know you also custom made R's engagement setting, so if everything looks good, I will send you a picture of the setting we like and you can see if you could replicate it.

Thank you so much and we hope to hear from you soon,

M&L

Operational Security Muli....please don't mention the names of the ships via email.  That seems to be a high level ship visit based on the ships mentioned.

ON a separate note...I haven't talked to you in some time. How are things Brother!!??  Miss you much. Hope the business is going well.  I was thinking about you a couple days ago when my wife wore the ceylan sapphire / diamond pendant and the diamond earrings you made for us.  They still look good!!!

I'd be interested in how things turn out after the sailors leave....keep in touch.

Best wishes and happy holidays

Cheers

Muli, great to hear back from you.  I've attached a picture, my old friend it was many years ago when we last spoke. Over the years, I visited you with many of my friends - KGl, TJW, TH, MS, DS and quite a few whose names escape me after so many years.  I used to truly enjoy bringing new people up to see you - they were always amazed at what a wonderful time they had visiting with you, learning all there was to know about diamonds, and your hospitality.  Visits to Mama's was one of my truly enjoyable memories from my Navy days.

I don't know anyone on the Kearsarge, but I'll send off an e-mail to their senior enlisteds to tell them all about you and make sure they get the word out.  Too many times the Navy ships get bombarded with flyers from the tourist traps and true friends of our Navy get overlooked.

If I remember your teachings, I can get away with some color with a yellow setting more than with a white setting.  She prefers yellow anyway, so let's go with that....  She truly is a rare woman - size doesn't matter :) and she is truly easy to please.  Her fingers are very tiny and short.  I had her try on 1/2 carat round solitaire and that seemed fine.  Also tried 3/4 carat and that seemed way too big on her finger - it just looked outlandish.  A little bit smaller than 1/2 carat would be fine, but unless there was some compelling reason, I don't think I'd want to go less than 1/3.  A little bit larger than 1/2 also is probably OK, but like I said before, 3/4 seemed a little bit big for her finger.  I guess my most important criteria here is the size of the diamond and what looks good for her fingers - more so than color, clarity, etc. (within reason of course).  I'd like to keep the ring less than $1000 or so if at all possible - I'll leave that to you to tell me whether it can be done or not.

Ultimately, for the wedding band she wants a wrap around the solitaire, preferrably small diamonds and saffires.  I think that also affects not going too small with the solitaire.  I'll look for that at a later date though.  But I guess it's important now when selecting the solitaire.  I did have her finger fitted while we were at the jewelers - size 5.

Let me know where we are here, if my budget is right and what we might be able to do.  I look forward to hearing from you again soon!  And I'll send out that e-mail to the Kearsarge today!
BM
